The Purpose of Correction

Paint correction is the process of machine-polishing the clear coat to remove imperfections. It serves two critical functions before coating:

Permanent Bonding (Performance): Ceramic coatings require a surgical-grade surface to bond chemically with your clear coat. If there is oxidation, old wax, or embedded road grime on the paint, the coating will bond to that dirt instead of the paint itself. This causes the coating to fail prematurely (e.g., lasting 6 months instead of 3 years).

Visual Clarity (Aesthetics): Ceramic coatings are like a magnifying glass. They are clear and extremely glossy. If you have swirl marks (spider-web scratches) or dullness underneath, the coating will actually highlight these defects rather than hide them. Correction ensures the paint is mirror-smooth so the coating amplifies the shine, not the scratches.
